Top 13: Results

Dang I'm good.... LOL....

I had three of the bottom four predicted correctly and I was spot on with the two contestants that were eliminated. I guess I shouldn't be putting feathers in my cap yet, because it was pretty predictable if you ask me. Jasmine and Jorge just left a lot to be desired, and didn't really make a memorable impact. Not enough to have people call in and vote at least. All in all... not to sad about their departures. Neither of them were going to win the whole she-bang. In fact... I think there really are only 4 who have a remote chance at winning. More on that later.

The twist??? Well... goes to show that its nothing a little Internet research can't figure out. Ryan's announcement what almost verbatim to my post from yesterday. Like I said then, I don't really have a problem with this rule. It actually seems like a good addition to the show. My only question is that Ryan said it can only be used from now until the Top 5.... so even if this rule would have been in place during Season 5, it wouldn't have helped Chris Daughtry because he was eliminated in the Top 5. As it gets closer to the end though, I agree that it needs to be America's decision and not the judges' decision.

Performances: Kanye.... meh. Whatevs. Sure he has hits (and I've downloaded them on my iPod...) but I still just think he's so flippin' cocky. I don't like his "swagger" as Kara would say. Speaking of Kara, wasn't it weird that the judges were removed from the table during Kanye's performance? Was this Kanye's request? Did the judges not want to be out there? I'm confused.

Kelly... AWESOME! I love her and I love the new single. I just bought the new CD but I haven't got a chance to listen to it. I'll keep you posted about it once I get a good listen. I was talking with Rich about this last night... but I honestly think that the producers of American Idol should be thanking their lucky stars that they found Kelly Clarkson and that she won Season One. This show really could have been a big flop, but the fact that Kelly won and has gone on to be a legitimate recording artist proves the show works. If I was Simon Cowell, I would be kissing the ground Kelly walks on whenever she's around. :-)

OK... so back to what I was saying about people that actually have a chance to win. Here's how I think it breaks down:

Actually has a chance to win: Danny, Adam, Lil, Matt
Could make it far, but won't be #1: Alexis, Anoop
Absolutely no way: Michael, Alison, Megan, Scott, Kris

What are your thoughts???

  1. I wasn't surprised by Jasmine and Jorge either. I think you were right the first time, when you said they only brought him into the Top 12 to prove that going to Puerto Rico wasn't a waste of time. I think Jasmine is just too young. She should come back in a year or two, when she has more experience. The same for Allison - I don't think she will go very far either.

I see the ending as a battle between Danny and Adam. Won't that be a great show??

I didn't like the Kanye West performance. He definitely needs the help of the mixing board to sound good!! I also HATE the pants off the butt look - pull your freakin pants up!!

Kelly - WOW - she was great!! I'm glad she rebounded from her last album. She is so good and I agree with you - Simon needs to give her props EVERY TIME he sees her.

What do you think of the Carrie Underwood cover of Motley Crue? I kind of like it. It's just weird to hear a female voice singing it.

Can't wait to see what happens next week. I think Scott or Alexis will most likely go home.

  2. Matt I am so glad you mentioned that the rule wouldn't have saved Chris...In fact every one they showed Tamarya, Latoya, and Chris all eliminated 4th..They could have only saved Jennifer Hudson and they wouldn't have because simon didn't like her on the show. I think they only way they will use their veto would be if Danny, Adam, Lil or possibly Matt go home super early....Also I think we are going to have to veto our not going to this concert rule :)

  3. The veto rule...

So instead of the night's loser getting to sing their last song as a feel-good farewell, they'll sing as the judges decide their fate. And everyone knew they weren't going to save Jasmine, so I just kind of had a futile and hopeless feeling for her as she sang :(
Hopefully they'll actually use the veto, just to make the process (and drama) worthwhile.

  4. Ok, I really don't see why Allison is put in the "absolutely no way" catagory. I like her...I think she can sing. She just needs to change the color of her hair. Tuesday night just helped me decide that I don't like Jasmine, and it's not because she's a Gabrielle Union look-alike. I just don't think she's all that good, and I'm still kinda bitter that the judges didn't put Leneshe Young through to the Top 13 at least. I was a little sad to see Jorge go cuz he worked so hard, and I never did like Kanye West's cocky tail. Kelly rocked as I knew she would.

  5. I honestly thought Anoop blew it by singing Beat It. Paula (for once) was actually right when she said there are songs that you just don't touch. There's a difference between singing a song that people know and singing one of the "untouchables". Anoop better learn for next week because I don't think America is going to be as forgiving if it happens again.

  6. Oh and Kelly sounded good but the song was off by almost half a key and she just sounded strained singing it. But agreeably better than Kanye for me. His was just to much repetition and not enough excitement. Just blah.

KANYE - such a lame-o! His music is so freaking catchy though.

KELLY - still is THE American Idol

ALEXIS - I liked Dirty Diana but I am not such a big fan of hers
DANNY - this guy is amazing and I am looking forward to how he develops over the course of the competition
ADAM - UGH! I think I am the only person that doesn't like this guy! He annoys the heck out of me. Hey Adam, quit screaming at me and get your hair cut! That piece on the side of his face drives me crazy. He reminds me of the kind of guy that would have tried to be in a boy band in the late 90s and be like Ricky Martin in the early 00s and be emo-ish a few years ago just to get attention and recognition. I might like him if he didn't piss me off so much!
MEGAN - I hope she stays around for a couple weeks, but not in the place of someone good. The CAW CAW was priceless and I cannot wait for what is still to come
MATT - favorite performance of the top 13, glad he came back with the wild card
LIL - great singer, a little boring so far - I want to be amazed!
KRIS - I unexpectedly enjoyed his performance of Remember the Time. I'm curious to see what's next
MICHAEL - good singer, nice guy, like him better than some others
ALISON - I would take Alison over Adam any day, even though she is annoying
ANOOP - What are you doing? I liked you and now you are wrecking it!
SCOTT - As a pianist he is phenomenal; as a singer I don't know why he is in the competition - probably the blind vote. Yeah, I said it, so what!?

JASMINE AND JORGE - I'm not sad to see either go. I liked Jasmine as soon as she auditioned but she might just be a good singer that was too young for the competition.

  8. I pretty much agree with you Babe. Just one thing, I think Kris will go farther than you think. He is going to get all the girl teeny bopper votes and they are loyal. I think he might make it to 4 or 5.
